Before applying for this credit card, keep in mind that it offers cashback in the form of Cash Points, not direct cash. These Cash Points work like rewards points you get with other credit cards. For example, when you spend in certain categories, you'll earn cash points as outlined below:
Spending Category | Cashback Category | Amount | Cash Points Earned |
---|---|---|---|
10 Online Merchants | 5% cashback | Rs. 15,000 | 750 Cash points |
Other Spends | 1% cashback* | Rs. 10,000 | 180 Cash points |
EMI Purchases | Rs. 8,000 |
*Note that 1% cashback on EMI & wallet reloads are offered collectively with the ‘other spends’ category.
Multiple Redemption Options
In addition to great cashback benefits, what makes this card appealing is the variety of ways you can use your earned points. You can redeem them for discounts on your statement balance, hotel and flight bookings through the Unified SmartBuy portal, items from a product catalog, or even as air miles. The redemption value is as follows:
Category | 1 cash point equals to |
---|---|
Cash Back (statement balance) | Rs. 1 |
Unified SmartBuy (Flight/Hotels Bookings) | Rs. 0.30 |
Product Catalog | Up to Re. 0.30 |
Airmiles | 0.30 air miles |

When it comes to cashback credit cards with benefits for everyday online shopping, the Flipkart Axis Bank and Amazon Pay ICICI cards are usually at the top. However, with the Millennia Credit Card, I enjoy benefits similar to those offered by both the Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card and Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card. Even though I have the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, which gives extra perks for shopping on Flipkart, I find that the Millennia card meets my needs for cashback on these two brands and others as well.
Spends | HDFC Millennia Credit Card | Amazon Pay ICICI Credit Card | Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card |
---|---|---|---|
Rs. 5,000 spent on Myntra | 250 cash points | Rs. 50 | Rs. 75 |
Rs. 5,000 spent on Amazon | 250 cash points | Rs. 250 | Rs. 75 |
Rs. 5,000 spent on Flipkart | 250 cash points | Rs. 50 | Rs. 250 |
Rs. 5,000 spent offline & Rs. 10,000 on EMI purchase | 150 cash points | Rs. 50 | Rs. 75 |
Total value back | Rs. 900* | Rs. 400 | Rs. 475 |
* On redemption against statement balance.
Based on the above comparison, you should consider getting the HDFC Bank Millennia Credit Card if your online spends are scattered amongst the 10 partnered online brands. However, you should consider getting an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card or a Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, if you are an Amazon or a Flipkart loyalist. There is no upper limit on earning cashback on these cards, whereas, in the case of Millennia, it is capped at 1,000 cash points per statement cycle. Thus, if you are a loyalist of these brands you will be able to maximize the HDFC Millennia Credit Card benefits.
Additionally, unlike the Millennia Credit Card, where cash points are credited in the subsequent month, the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card and Amazon Pay Card provide cashback in the same month as the transaction, reflected in the card statement and Amazon wallet, respectively.
